As a creative it is important to get yourself in a designy mood. Nothing is as good as feeling bouncy and happy and everything flows off your fingers. Music is a great way to get there. So I thought I will share some very good pieces from my playlist with you once in a while. Let’s start our ‘Creative Soundtrack’. We start with the young, new, very sympathic and very talented australian band San Cisco and their song ‘Awkward’.

Famous alcohol brands packed in beverage cartons instead of their prominent bottles. A project by Jörn Beyer of JØRN. Made me smile. More images here.

Great package design by Elena Sancho. Muyum is all about healthy food for kids, but I think it also works for adults. Great fresh look.

Joseph Mitchell, Jess Watson, Jess Moore and Eva Ni of the Natcoll design school in Auckland, New Zealand gave ‘Everyday Hero’ chocolate of Whittakers a great new design. I would say: Package design A+.

Chattanooga in Tennessee started an interesting project: ‘Chatype’, Chattanoogas own typeface. I must admit, I never heard of this city before, but I think every city should have it’s own typeface. Sounds like a great project to me. To learn more about the ‘Chatype’ go to chatype.com. To support the ‘Chatype’ you can pledge at Kickstarter.

Here comes the second blog for the ‘favorites list’: Between the Neon. Between the Neon is the ‘design, photography and personal stuff’-blog of lovely Erin Joy. Filled with a lot of different topics about design and beautiful things in general Between the Neon is a true all-rounder, as much as Erin. Erin was born in Australia, raised in Hong Kong, studied Graphic Design in London, went back to Sydney to found her design studio BringMeJoy and is now settled in Cape Town, where she is busy setting up a kids clothing company with her brother called lil’sprout and planning her wedding. She is designing all the printed stuff (invites, menus, cards…) by herself and the goal is to give the guests a massive graphic overload. I say, go for it!
Between the Neon came to life, when Erin decided to bring her ‘digital sketchbook’ (a folder on her computer filled with tons of images of design, photography and illustrations she liked and used as inspiration source) online. She also uses the blog to bring together her creative friends and showcasting the various projects they’ve been working on. Good for us. Between the Neon is part of my daily lecture and I warmly recommend all my readers a daily dose of Between the Neon.
In her own words:
You’ll find amazing design, beautiful illustration, photography that makes you sigh, sweet things for your home, work by my awesome friends and occasionally bits and bobs from me.
